The story
Virgin is a small ranching town strung along SR-9, but it holds a secret door into Zion. From the middle of town, Kolob Terrace Road climbs north into the park's high country — a quieter, greener side of Zion that most visitors never see, with access to Lava Point and the famous Subway slot canyon.
Down low, the Virgin River runs through, and the open desert and big skies make for some of the best stargazing on the corridor.
